What exactly do X, Y and Z mean in speed cubing notations? Let's dive on in.

Clockwise or Anti-Clockwise?

  • X Look at the cube from the X axis (right face) as shown in the image above and rotate the cube clockwise
  • X' Look at the cube from the X axis (right face) as shown in the image above and rotate the cube anti-clockwise
  • Y Look at the cube from the Y axis (top face) as shown in the image above and rotate the cube clockwise
  • Y' Look at the cube from the Y axis (top face) as shown in the image above and rotate the cube anti-clockwise
  • Z Look at the cube from the Z axis (front face) as shown in the image above and rotate the cube clockwise
  • Z' Look at the cube from the Z axis (front face) as shown in the image above and rotate the cube anti-clockwise
